 What’s New for the 2026 Hyundai Kona?

The compact Hyundai Kona crossover SUV has been a coveted option for auto shoppers thanks to its contemporary styling and solid combination of features. The Kona debuted its second generation in 2024, and it brings an important update to the table for the 2026 model year. This year, Numerous trim levels, including the SEL, SEL Convenience, N Line S, and N Line, have been eliminated. The SEL Sport and SEL Premium trims have been added. The trim lineup for 2026 includes the SE, SEL Sport, SEL Premium, and Limited.

Two powertrains are available with the 2026 Kona. The base engine is a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder unit. It produces 147 horsepower and comes with front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission. The top trim levels have a turbo 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This system produces 190 horsepower and features front-wheel drive.

The enviable design of the 2026 Hyundai Kona comes to life with a strong personality on the front end, a flat roof that tapers into a liftgate spoiler, and raked side windows for a sporty look. Along the sides, an angled crease adds flair to the contouring. Dark molding is flared and squared off across the wheel wells. The molding is pronounced along the lower door panels. At the front end, the large fascia has a rectangular design with triangular, silver elements on the sides. The fender molding expands to the front end and runs around the triangular LED headlights. A slender LED bar curves around the front of the hood. Available exterior features are a sunroof, 19-inch wheels, auto high beams, and roof rails.

There is only one change to the available features for the Kona’s 2026 model year. Adaptive cruise control is now standard for all trim levels. Features offered in the Kona across select or all trims include a driver attention warning, a 12.3-inch touch display screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, four USB ports, a dual-zone auto climate control system, a digital instrument panel, heated front seats, a rear seat reminder, an integrated navigation system, lane centering, a digital key, intersection collision mitigation, micro-suede upholstery, wireless smartphone charging and others.
